Relationship | 4th great-grandfather of Doris J. Muller |
Father* | Benjamin Worden1 born 25 August 1756, died before 11 March 1841 |
Mother* | Sarah Frost born 16 June 1755, died before March 1818 |
Family | Amy Montross born after 1776 |
Children |
|
Life Events | |
Birth* | about 1776; Town of Clinton, Dutchess, New York |
Marriage* | about 1793; . Amy's siblings and their offspring were frequent visitors to the Worden home for at least two generations, per letter written in early 1940s by Flo Mann.; Principal=Amy Montross3,4 |
Note | According to notes written March 2, 1960 by Gladys Evina Borden Chapman, Leonard was married to an Indian. Now that we know Leonard's wife was actually Amy Montross, it appears the Indian connection may be on the Montross side, since Jacob Montross, Amy's grandfather, is said to have had an Indian wife. Or perhaps this reference is to Peleg Worden's wife, Rebecca. Peleg was Leonard's grandfather. On the other hand, DNA evidence points to less than one percent Native American ancestry in those cousins in the Worden DNA study concluded in September 2014 whose ethnic results were available to me (See Wordens Past, November 2014, pub. by www.wordenfamilyassoc.org.) This suggests there was no Native American in this lineage.4,3,5 |
Note* | A manuscript written about 1926 was found in the spring of 2011 by a distant cousin. Until this discovery, only one child (Samuel Montross Worden) of Leonard and Amy was known.6 |
Census | 1800; One male under 10 (Samuel Montross), 1 16-25 (self) and 1 female 16-25 (wife Amy)7 |
Census* | 1820; Three males under 10 (Charles, John, Montross), 2 males 10-16 (William, Cornelius), 1 26-45 (self), 1 female 10-16 (Betsy), 1 16-26 (Phebe), 1 26-45 (wife Amy); working in Commerce.8 |
Census | 1830; Clinton, Dutchess, New York; One M 10-15 (Isaac), self 50-60, 1 F 50-60 (Amy). Notice there are a Doty and a Knickerbocker living just a few doors away.9 |
Death* | 1841; Dutchess, New York; in the Dutchess County Alms House between May and August in 1841.10 |
