Samuel M. Worden

#1873, born 1777, died 1828
2014: DNA evidence now proves that Leonard was the son of Benjamin and Sarah Worden, which suggests that Samuel M. was probably the son of Samuel b. 1745 (although it doesn't rule oyut the possibility that Samuel M. was also Benjamin's son).
******************************
2011: Gilbert Bahn now attributes Leonard (ID #1545) as a son of Samuel b. 1745 (ID #1875) instead of Benjamin (ID #1654) and Samuel M. (ID #1873) as a son of Benjamin (ID #1654) instead of Samuel (ID #1875). While no records have yet been found to confirm or deny this, one thing to consider is that Benjamin and Sarah lived in the northwest part of the Town of Clinton (Dutchess County, NY) and Samuel M. lived in Pleasant Valley in the southern part of Clinton (until 1821 when it was spun off to form its own Town), at least 10 miles south of Clinton Hollow. We do not know where Leonard lived but his wife was a Montross and her family lived in Clinton Hollow, a mile or two east of the Frost and Benjamin Worden lands. It may also be worthwhile to note that Leonard and Amy Worden's oldest son, Samuel Montross Worden, lived 2 or 3 miles north of Clinton Hollow at the intersection of Bulls Head Rd. and Slate Quarry Rd. in the Town of Milan.2
Relationship1st cousin 7 times removed of Doris J. Muller
Father*Samuel Worden born 4 April 1745; Note: DNA testing now proves that Samuel M. was not the son of Benjamin and Sarah Worden. He is probably the son of Samuel b. 1745 and his wife Elizabeth(?).1

Marriage*about 1770; Westchester, New York; Principal=Elizabeth ? Unknown5
Note*In 1770, Samuel (age 24) is alone in Westchester County, NY. In 1780, he is married and has three children (per Gilbert Bahn). They are in Westchester County, NY. [Notice that Dr. Bahn later belives that Samuel's second son was Leonard, not Samuel M. and places Samuel M. as a son of Benjamin instead of Leonard.] This family then disappears, although there is a Jesse (over 16) in Stephentown, Albany Co., NY in 1790 with one male under 16 and 3 females. In 1800, there are two Jesses in Dutchess County: 1 male 26-45, 2 females under 10 and wife 16-26 (census p. 156 - Amenia); 1 male 26-45, 3 males under 10, 2 females under 10, and wife 26-45 (census p. 110 - Clinton). In 1810, we find a Samuel Worden in Clinton: 1 male 26-45, 2 under 10, 1 10-16 and wife 26-45, 2 females under 10.6,1
NoteWorden Surname Census ID: E3. There may be more children who are unknown to me but were evidently published in a later Worden surname book.7
