Name-OthMary A. Miller
Birth*12 August 1841; Oberhausen, Sudische Weinstrasse, Rheinpfaltz, Bayern, Germany; In a diary kept by John Muller (Anna Maria's son) of his trip to Germany in the early 1920s, we found reference to the town of Bad Bergzabern as beng his mother's home. Marilyn Zensinger Laws (son William's granddaughter) visited there in 1999 and sent me a postcard (in DJW files) showing a truly lovely town (click on the camera icons above to see photos). Also see photos taken by DJW on a trip to Germany under the Places tab, above. She learned that the public records for this area are now in Heidelberg (but see below). Other records confirm Bavaria as their home. Anna Maria specified Oberhausen, Rheinpfalz, Bavaria as her home.

DJW visited Oberhausen and Bad Bergzabern in October 2009 and found the Jaeger home as well as records in the Staatsarchive in Bad Bergzabern.1,2
Immigration*11 December 1854; Passenger #s 180-184: Elizabeth age 43 (mother), Anna Maria age 17(?), Jacob 8, Carl 5, Elizabeth 3 on the ship, Annapolis, Line 33, from LeHavre, France to New York. Online record shows origin as Bavaria but original record does not show this. Microfilm serial M237, roll 148, List #1639. (Apparently, her father had immigrated in 1951 and sent for his family later.); Immigrant=Elizabeth (Barbara?) Rapp, Immigrant=Jacob Jaeger, Immigrant=Carl Jaeger, Immigrant=Elizabeth Jaeger3
Marriage*28 August 1864; the United German Lutheran Church, New York, New York, New York; Principal=Louis Justus Martin Müller4
Death*11 May 1919; Jersey City, Hudson, New Jersey; of angina pectoris5
Note*Per Charles Muller (son) of same address, informant on death certificate, Mary A. Muller lived at 228 First St., Jersey City, at time of death. She was the widow of Louis J. Muller and was born 12 Aug 1841 in Germany. Her father's name was Joseph[?] Jaeger, her mother was Elizabeth Rapp, both born in Germany.6
Burial*14 May 1919; Lutheran Cemetery, Middle Village, L.I., New York7
NoteAccording to Wikipedia, this is the website https://www.bad-bergzaberner-land.de/die-region/suedliche-weinstrasse/oberhausen.html
and this is its location: Oberhausen is a municipality in Südliche Weinstraße district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany. Bad Bergzabern is also the seat of the Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") Bad Bergzabern, which consists of Ortsgemeinden ("local municipalities"), including Oberhausen.8

Name-OthJoseph; However, the only time this name appears is on Anna Maria's death certificate and it seems to be an error.
Birth*14 September 1813; Oberhausen, Bad Bergzabern, Bavaria, Germany; Confirmed to DJW by R. Ubel on 9 April 2010. Note that photos of his home and the cemetery (see the "Places" tab) in Oberhausen were taken in October 2009 by DJW.1,2,3
Marriage*7 November 1836; Oberhausen, Barbelorth, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany; . Another record provided by a researcher in Germany shows the date as 17 Aug 1836, the same as that shown in the LDS record. Perhaps this is the date of the banns?; Principal=Elizabeth (Barbara?) Rapp4,3,5,6
Immigration*1851; per death certificate. I have not been able to find him on a ship passenger list. Since his wife and four children came together in 1854, perhaps he did arrive in 1851 and sent for them later.7,8
Note*1869; Two entries in 1869 show Frederick Jaeger, one a grocer, 131 Delancey and the other a saloon[keeper?], h 209 Eighth Ave., New York City. This could be father and son (see 1880 census for Frederick Sr. and 1870 census for Frederick Jr.). Note that John Jaeger died at 211 Eighth Ave.9
NoteFrederick Jaeger and Anthon Muller are shown as co-owners of Lots 4561-4564 in the Lutheran All Faiths Cemetery in Middle Village. I have a list of 30 interments in these lots, all named Muller or Jaeger except for four: 2 Schweis, 2 Gibson. All are now identified and included in this database.
Census*1880; New York, New York; where is found in the household of Lorenz Muller, his son-in-law. Frederick is age 66, born in Bavaria, a butcher, and with parents both born in Bavaria. Besides Frederick, Lorenz's household consists of wife Elizabeth, daughters Louisa C. age 12 and Annie M. age 2, and sons Anton age 8 and Charles F. age 3 months; also a Fred Bronbauer listed as "other"10
Naturalization*4 October 1880; U. S. District Court, New York City, New York, New York; A Frederick W. Jaeger was naturalized this date in U. S. District Court, New York City. His address at the time was 104 Prince Street. Date of birth is not recorded, so this could have been Frederick, Jr., or someone who is unrelated.11
Death*29 September 1882; 120 10th Ave., New York, New York1
Burial*1 October 1882; Lutheran Cemetery, Middle Village, Queens, New York; ; letter from cemetery is in DJW files
Note*He was a widower at death, per death certificate. But note: On Mary Muller's death certificate, her father's name was Joseph, according to information supplied by son Charles. Perhaps Joseph was an uncle or other relative, or it may have been simply a recording error.
Euro-Origin*Oberhausen, Bad Bergzabern, Rhineland-Palatinate, Bayern, Germany, 49.097789N8.057145E; See daughter, Anna Maria, for details12
